Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham is a non-profit charitable organization serving children from 0 - 12 years of age across Durham region. We offer full-day childcare, before and after-school programs, non-instructional school day programming, licensed summer programs, recreational summer camps and licensed home childcare. Supervisor, Licensed Home Child Care

Location:

Multiple Locations throughout Durham Region / Office Location - Whitby, ON

Status:

Permanent, Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Compensation

$31.84/hour

The Role



Reporting to the manager, LHCC, this individual will be responsible for ongoing monitoring/compliance assurance, resourcing and supporting the licensed home childcare programs. This individual will ensure management practices that reflect the philosophy of the organization, that promote quality early childhood education and care, that provide a safe and supportive work/play environment, that promote positive relations with families and partners, and that demonstrate sound legislative understanding and adherence.

Responsibilities



Home Childcare Monitoring

Conduct initial home visits in collaboration with the LHCC Program Manager, ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, and ensure health & safety monitoring is completed on an on-going basis Support the review and coordination of signing applicable agreements and paperwork between the home childcare provider and Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham
Home Childcare Provider Support

Provide home childcare providers with ongoing administrative and registration support as outlined in the "Third Party Contractor Agreement" Provide additional administrative resources as needed/required (i.e., onboarding new families, parent interviews and intake processes) Provide additional program related support as needed/required (i.e., program planning, menu planning, toys, equipment, and program set-up) Work with the home childcare provider to deliver a curriculum that supports children's learning and aligns with the philosophy of Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham Share existing resources for home childcare providers to network, enhance their program and participate in professional learning (i.e., network groups, articles/resources, podcasts, webinars, toy-lending library, speaker's series) Conduct regular and ongoing home visits to ensure legislative (CCEYA), health & safety protocols, and relevant Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham policies/procedures are being followed

The Ideal Candidate - Qualifications, Education and Experience



College Diploma or University Degree in Early Childhood Education, and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience within licensed childcare, licensed home childcare experience is an asset Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a licensed childcare setting (centre-based or licensed home childcare) Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C qualifications Current, valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle to conduct in-home visits, attend network meetings etc. Sound knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen? ELECT and the Durham Region Operating Criteria Technologically savvy - working understanding of social media platforms, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
