MacCosham has been providing rail yard terminal services for over 50 years and is experienced in the management of a variety of yard configurations. In addition to our rail intermodal terminal services, including lift-on/lift-off of containers and hostler services, we also operate several container and chassis repair depots associated with rail yard terminal services, with a full range of mechanical, welding and associated repair services.
MacCosham Inc. is looking for a full-time, permanent Supervisor Intermodal Yard Operations to join our growing team in Calgary, AB. Who is comfortable working 12-hour day and night shifts on a rotating basis.
The Role
Responsible for the daily execution of terminal performance regarding safety, performance, and efficiency
Communicate clearly with CPKC Supervisors regarding track plans and truck turnaround times
Monitor equipment down time, and ensure an accurate record within the tracking report
Create, implement, and advise safety topics to employees during job briefings
Monitor, coach, and mentor employees; ensuring to complete required safety compliance audits
Assist in scheduling, monitoring attendance and updating timesheets for payroll
Participate in daily planning conference calls and weekly safety conference calls
Implementation of new strategies to assist with operations inside the terminal
Complete daily, weekly, and ad hoc reports as required
Additional responsibilities related to the day-to-day operations as delegated by the manager
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required; Post-secondary education is considered an asset
Previous management/supervisor experience is considered an asset
Understanding of rail and intermodal operations is considered an asset
Experience in a top lift machine and/or shunt truck is considered an asset
Experience with Oasis, TMS/Triex and Nexus is considered an asset
Flexibility to work night shifts and/or day shifts as needed
Must be comfortable working outdoors in all elements (varies day-to-day)
Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
Ability to lead and manage a diverse group of employees
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Ability to drill down, understand root causes, and resolve complex issues
