B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.
Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous & Northern Affairs, this position is based in the Edmonton office, with travel to site and Kitikmeot communities. Lieu time will be provided for overtime work at the site and community travel in Nunavut.
Responsibilities
Oversee the daily work of the Coordinator, Inuit Support at Project sites, ensuring alignment with project objectives and community needs;
Ensure in-depth knowledge of the Back River Project scope, IIBA commitments, and their direct impact on Kitikmeot communities;
Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to uphold the IIBA and Back River Project Framework across sites & departments;
Conduct site visits for a minimum of one (1) week every two months, with additional visits as required to support key initiatives;
Actively support and participate in internal and external meetings related to the IIBA;
Coordinate Project engagement in the IIBA Implementation Committee and execute the planning of annual IIBA site visits;
Lead the organization of annual Inuit Environmental Advisory Committee meetings;
Develop and deliver presentations and outreach materials to communicate Project objectives and IIBA commitments at Project sites and events;
Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements, including IIBA obligations, the Framework Agreement, Nunavut Impact Review Board regulations, and other agency mandates;
Oversee the implementation of the Kitikmeot Community Investment Program and IIBA Regional Wealth Creation Fund, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of relevant data; and
Promote a strong safety culture, adhering to and reinforcing safe work practices for B2Gold and contractors.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
Five (5) years' experience working in the resource development industry focused on stakeholder and Indigenous engagement, social impact and performance, and/or sustainability, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a supervisor;
High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in social studies or a related field is a strong asset. Proficiency in English and either Inuinnaqtun or Inuktitut (spoken, reading, and writing) is preferred;
Strong public speaking ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and experience working in a team environment. Proficient in computer applications, including word processing, Excel, and email; and
Ability to work under pressure, manage time-sensitive requests, and adapt to changing priorities. Willingness and ability to travel to Kitikmeot communities, Yellowknife, and Project sites as required.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Back River Project scope, IIBA commitments, and their impact on Kitikmeot communities. Ability to effectively communicate this knowledge in various settings.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the total annual earnings are $120,000.00.
