In this role you will be responsible for providing direction and leadership in the day to day delivery of field logistics support in the areas of transportation, fleet management, dispatcher over-sight, distribution of products to hospitals, shipping / receiving, warehousing and inventory management, local requisitioning and procurement, storage / removal and disposal of biomedical waste, management of all transportation supplies and preparation of clinic kits for donor clinics including donor refreshments. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supervises all processes related to human resources according to CBS policies and procedures
  • Provides logistical support to site customers, including Collections, Production, Diagnostic Services, Donor Testing and Donor Services as per Service Level Agreements in the areas of transportation, warehouse, supply and preparation of clinic kits for donor clinics
  • Responsible for ensuring training requirements are met and delivering training to Field Logistics personnel
  • Responsible for providing accurate and timely reports on Field Logistics functions
  • Assists with budget preparation and accountability of departmental budget
  • Performs other related duties as required

Required Skills:

  • Post secondary level education in a relevant discipline form a recognized academic institution
  • Minimum of three years of related experience in field logistics areas or transportation, warehouse or supply
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, client focused thinking and ability to work with management at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to plan resources and monitor expenditures
  • Good analytical abilities coupled with effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • Leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment, providing the necessary skills to manage effectively in a rapidly changing environment with a focus on customer service
  • Proficiency using computers is required. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and a good working knowledge of SAP and other ERP financial, purchasing and warehouse management modules is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislations, including Provincial Highway Traffic Acts, Motor Vehicle Acts, Dangerous Goods Act, Provincial Environment Acts, is required
