As an Employee Support Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a large portfolio of Operators from four different divisions including Conventional Bus, Community Shuttle, Accessible Bus, and Light Rail Vehicle (LRT). Your leadership role will encompass a wide range of duties, including the development of Operators through coaching and mentoring, managing probationary and onboarding processes, handling performance evaluations, attendance management, conducting investigations, providing necessary support and resources, fostering employee engagement, administering progressive discipline including terminations, and representing the division at grievance and arbitration hearings. Primary duties include:

  • Ensure a high level of work performance in areas with respect to safety, courtesy, on-time performance, customer satisfaction, use of equipment, and reliability for all members of the Transit Service Delivery team and for assisting staff members to reach their full potential in terms of productivity and career growth.
  • Ensure that employees are provided with and trained on required Fleet, materials, and procedures to perform the assigned task. Ensure that all employees work in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations, along with adhering to all City of Calgary corporate and departmental policies and procedures. Propose and set up remedial trainings for employees who are not in compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into all aspects of work performance, Transit policies and procedures and Code of Conduct matters.
  • Sustain Calgary Transit\'s Customer Commitment and demonstrate support to Occupational Health and Safety by leading Health and Safety initiatives.
  • Support employees and follow processes that support physical and psychological safety.





Qualifications
  • A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. G.E.D.), with at least 4 years of related experience and a strong working knowledge of Calgary Transit service and operating regulations.
  • Experience in a unionized transit operating unionized environment is required.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with previous supervisory experience.
  • Applicants who are proficient with HASTUS and/or GIRO software applications as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, will be given preference.
  • Proficient experience with Bus, CS, LRT, Transit Access and performance and attendance management will also be given preference.
  • A valid Class 2 Operator\'s license (or provincial equivalent) with a \'Q\' endorsement and no more than 6 demerits, with no current suspensions or charges pending is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability with relationship building, conflict and time management skills.
  • A good understanding of Calgary Transit\'s Customer Commitment is beneficial.
  • The applicant must possess effective interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Days of Work: This position works a Compressed
Work Week (CWW), with one day off in a 2-week
cycle. Shift rotation is required to align with business needs.


Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
