The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) - one of the most inspirational not-for-profit organizations on this planet and an awardee on the Forbes list of Canada's Best Employers 2022 - is seeking an Emergency Response Team (ERT) Supervisor for our Virtual Operations Team.

The incumbent will be involved in the team's planning and in organizing the delivery of assigned services while knowing how to deliver all services at the ERT level and adapt when assignments change due to shifts in operational needs and priorities.

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure a high-quality provision of services to beneficiaries and provide ongoing feedback to ERT Responders during a response in compliance with the CRC Standards and Guidelines.
  • Assess resource requirements, ensure needs assessments are completed to determined ESS requirements of beneficiaries, as appropriate.
  • Facilitate operational briefings and debriefings during a response.
  • Provide timely formal and informal performance feedback to volunteers who report directly to the ERT Supervisor.
  • Manage inventory of emergency stock, ensuring adequate stock is available when opening a site, maintaining appropriate level of stock during response, and completing a close of operation inventory/reconciliation.
  • Review personnel schedules, maintain logistics supplies, statistics and financial documentation for use of service, as required.
  • Make recommendations to improve service after an evaluation and complete necessary documentation according to CRC standards.
What we are looking for:
  • Completion of College Diploma and/or an equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience supervising a team.
  • Experience as ERT Responder or PDA Supervisor is an asset.
  • Strong skills in Micro-soft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams) and proven skills in cloud based technology and support to data base utilization.
  • Strong leadership, customer service and conflict resolution skills, with ability to communicate and respond decisively.
  • Understanding of Red Cross role in disaster response, relief and recovery, an asset.
  • This position requires a satisfactory Canadian criminal record reference check.
  • This position requires a private, home based office space with access to a computer and reliable high speed internet as well was a telephone or the ability to connect via head set through the computer.
Working conditions:
  • Most of the response work is performed in an adapted response environment which is moderately clean and comfortable.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours (daytime, evenings, and weekends), be on-call and respond to emergency/disaster related requests.
