The opportunity:



The Supervisor Youth and Aquatics is responsible for successfully managing quality youth and aquatic programs and services in a safe, service-oriented environment.



In this role, you will:



Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada. Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. Develop high quality programs and services in accordance with YMCA standards and best practices, member needs and Association strategic directions. Monitor and maintain high member participation and retention through the delivery of exceptional programs and services. Using approved measurement tools, monitor all programs and services for quality, consistency, retention and overall effectiveness. Develop a departmental operating budget in cooperation with the General Manager. Monitor the fiscal health of the department flagging significant variances in a timely manner. Take appropriate action to rectify any significant variances. Achieve the annual budget contribution as approved by the Board. Follow all YMCA standards and best practices and regulations as defined by the Health Department, and other governing bodies. Ensure the safety and security of YMCA members and participants at all times through the supervision of qualified, well trained staff. Recruit, train, schedule and evaluate an exceptional team of staff and volunteers. Ensure that staff hold current qualifications as per Health Regulations and YMCA standards. Maintain current, copies of all qualifications on file both locally and at the Association Offices. Conduct monthly in-service development for aquatics staff concentrating on safety procedures, effective child and youth focused instruction techniques and exceptional YMCA service standards. Ensure a front line presence during day, evening and weekend hours as required by YMCA programs and services. Interact with members and participants on a regular basis in order to maintain accessibility and foster relationships. Provide front line program leadership as required or defined by General Manager. Maintain an efficient flow of information to ensure that staff, members and volunteers are well informed. Ensure that communication is clear, professional and effective. Return all member calls within 24 hours during your work week. To be an active contributing participant on the centre senior staff team. Maintain a high level of retention among qualified, high performing aquatics staff and volunteers through ongoing coaching, development and mentoring. Provide front line support to the other departments as required. Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.

You bring:



Degree or Diploma YMCA Instructors and Current NLP Certifications Certified Pool Operators Certificate preferred Healthy Child Development Healthy Adolescent Development Experience working in community programs Experience with computer reports etc. SAM 2.0 Training Manager on Duty Training Emergency Training Minimum 2 Years supervisory program delivery experience Standard First Aid & CPR C Child Protection orientation AODA training Health & Safety Awareness training Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) training PCI Compliance Mandated training is required before or shortly after commencement of work Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Must be able to work flexible hours based on client needs Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after

commencement of work including:



AODA Training Health & Safety Awareness Training Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training PCI Compliance Child Safeguarding Orientation Willingness to be able to work flexible hours based on client needs
