Position Overview:




Reporting to the Controller, the Supervisor, Accounts Payable oversees the Accounts Payable (A/P) team at CIBC Mellon. This position has two direct reports.

Responsibilities:



Delegates and schedules the daily work tasks of the Accounts Payable team, monitoring the work of the team to ensure it is completed accurately as required and as scheduled. Supervises and reviews weekly disbursement batches for vendors including employee reimbursements. Coordinates with business unit controllers for monthly expense accruals. Provides day to day supervision, technical advice and human resources support to the A/P team by conducting individual performance reviews, setting individual and team performance objectives, assisting management with staff recruitment and providing input into identification and delivery of team training and development requirements. Oversees the day-to-day practical operation of the Accounts Payable system (Epicor) and Concur (employee reimbursements), directly guiding the team members in system operation and procedures and by completing the processes involved in month end closing of the system. Addresses and resolves A/P-related inquiries from vendors, internal CIBC Mellon staff and internal/ external auditors; may assign inquiries to A/P team members or handle situations escalated by team members. Develops and maintains strong vendor and internal relationships. Leads the system upgrade and enhancement projects related to A/P functions. Develop, implement and enhance processes, controls and procedures in the A/P team to increase operational efficiency and accuracy. Collaborates with Accounting function management to provide input on improvements, modifications and daily operations associated with A/P policies, procedures and system software performance.

Qualifications:



Post-secondary degree in finance, accounting or business. Experience in motivating, developing and leading a team. Strong knowledge of accounts payable procedures, accounting principles, month-end close process and general ledger accounting. Proficient in working with financial systems (Epicor, Concur) Strong planning and problem-solving skills
