This role requires full-time on-site presence.

The opportunity

Assist in achieving Corporation objectives by providing specialized technical and production guidance, by providing leadership for other employees in the Master Control environment and by undertaking the overall coordination of assigned programs, areas or projects in Radio, Digital and Television. According to the specified requirements, performs tasks required for the efficient and accurate delivery and presentation of program or event related content across all platforms.

Creative problem-solving is required to resolve operational difficulties, optimize the use of resources and to motivate others. Expected to work independently with little oversight. Work is generally performed according to accepted CBC or industry standards, but there is wide latitude for independent action, judgment and initiative. There are requirements to work in a self-administered environment, manage change and develop best practices for future projects, and report to management the status of the Master Control environment.

Where instructions or requirements are not clear, independent judgments may be necessary under severe time constraints and relevant personnel are contacted for clarification. Problems or faults are reported clearly and promptly to the relevant authority. Receives and replies to audience queries. There is a requirement to coordinate the work of others. Performs tasks and formulates options to ensure the efficient use of distribution and collection resources required by multiple television/Radio/Digital networks and services supported by the CBC.

What you will focus on:

  • Supervises daily operations and maintains familiarity with the technical operation of MPC Master Control.
  • Will oversee the technical or production installations within the Master Control environment and any associated equipment.
  • Provides specialized assistance with internal and external partners. Works in close consultation with Engineers and Technologists.
  • Within delegated limits, plans, assigns, schedules, coordinates and checks the work of assigned staff and reports on matters related to job performance, conduct and safety.
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of new staff.
  • Undertakes reviews of the operations, operating procedures, technical standards and maintenance activities. Submits and implements recommendations for improvements or modifications.
  • Corresponds on the CBC\xe2\x80\x99s behalf with outside persons or firms, for the provision of supplies, and services, or reviews or directs such arrangements. Verifies material delivery or service completion.
  • Acting as a consultant, provides assistance and advice on operational requirements in terms of equipment, facilities and personnel
  • Recommends safety procedures. Plans and maintains safety measures and programs for personnel, property and equipment.
  • Represent the interests of Media Presentation in Production Meetings and establish constructive relationships with partner departments.
  • Performs all or part of the function or duties of equivalent or lower classifications.
  • Reviews, investigates and verifies reports and institutes any action as necessary.
  • Verifies the accuracy of time reports and work performed.
  • Conducts surveys and prepares detailed reports.
Qualifications

What you bring:
  • Four years related experience
  • Requires a superior knowledge and understanding of radio or television program production and presentation methods
  • Understanding how different areas and crafts interrelate
  • Knowledge generally gained through community college graduation in Radio or Television arts courses, or equivalent industry experience
