ABOUT THE JOB:

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for a Superintendent, Tenant Construction role supporting our Commercial Industrial Division. The primary purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the tenant construction work for a Commercial Industrial Project located in Burlington, Ontario. The position acts as the main interface for the coordination of work with contractors, suppliers and labour forces and ensures that it is conducted in accordance with safety requirements, design, schedule, quality standards and expectations. The duration of this temporary contract will be for 6-months with the possibility of extension.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

On a day-to-day basis, the key responsibilities of the Superintendent, Tenant Construction include:

Adhere to, implement and enforce all Health & Safety policies and procedures and advise Senior Management of any unsafe conditions or practices. Accountable for planning and critical path schedule management in order to achieve the necessary deliverables. Perform regular progress reviews, ensuring that work is completed in accordance with the design and contract documents. Oversee the performance of trades with close attention paid to quality of work. Maintain positive working relationships with all key project stakeholders including Senior Managers, Project Managers, Consultants, Government and Municipal representatives and other authorities having jurisdiction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To succeed, candidates must possess the following combination of education, experience and skills:

7+ years of relevant, progressive experience in the field of construction of industrial or retail buildings in a management capacity; Solid hands-on experience and a proven track record of successfully completed projects in the ICI sector; Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook is required; Strong communication and reporting skills; Flexibility to travel to job sites across the GTA; Ability to contribute in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team atmosphere; and Strong working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects (Ontario)
