We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to take on the role of Superintendent, Sourcing for the Diavik Mine. You will be responsible to lead a team of professionals and for the development and execution of complex sourcing strategies for the business. This role is a great opportunity for a Procurement professional to develop and execute sourcing projects, and to lead and motivate an effective procurement team to contribute to the delivery of commercially favorable contracts and deliver optimal value to Diavik.

What the role entails

Located in our Yellowknife Corporate Office, this role will be reporting to the Procurement Business Partner. The working schedule will be a Monday to Friday work schedule, with regular travel to the mine site.

Main responsibilities will be:
  • Leading and motivating a team of procurement professionals in the development and implementation of comprehensive sourcing strategies and execution of commercial agreements to minimize total cost and maximize value that will drive competitive advantage and meet Rio Tinto governance requirements.
  • Ensuring sound category management processes, project implementation methodologies in accordance with Rio Tinto Procurement\xe2\x80\x99s process, documentation, and governance requirements.
  • Conducting and implementing contract management (e.g., contract execution, implementation, supplier reviews) for assigned contracts or arising from sourcing projects previously executed.
  • Managing relationships with key suppliers through regular meetings and communications, developing and tracking KPIs to ensure ongoing stable supply and value. Regular travel to the mine site will be expected.
  • Fostering relationships with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and build cohesive and effective strategies to ensure delivery of services and expected outcomes.
  • Pulling and analyzing relevant data to prepare reports on spend, cost, productivity or other as required.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation, or equivalent.
  • A Supply Chain Diploma, or equivalent, from an accredited institution.
  • 5 - 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 previous experience in supply chain management, procurement, contract management and administration.
  • Previous experience in leading and supervising a team of professionals.
  • A strong collaborative approach to procurement, working with both the local and regional teams.
  • Good computer skills with a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and Power BI.
  • Experience working with SAP is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical capability and experience.
  • Proven project management, problem solving and customer/supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to achieve outcomes through partnership, collaboration and positive influence.
  • Highly organized, systematic and detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders across diversified networks.
  • Ability to communicate succinctly verbally and in written form with both internal and external stakeholders.
