JOB DESCRIPTION The Corporation of the City of Orillia has an opening for the full-time position of Superintendent of Collection and Distribution in the Environment and Infrastructure Services Department. DUTIES

  • Assume the role of Overall Responsible Operator for the Collection and Distribution systems. Provide Management on-call to ensure operator and subsystem compliance. Provide support to the Superintendents of Water Treatment and Supply and Wastewater Treatment.
  • Ensure Compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) and other legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring all applicable conditions of MECP Environmental Compliance Approvals and Municipal Drinking Water Licence/Drinking Water Works Permits are being met, and responsible for all reporting requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service. Responsible for responding to complaints or inquiries from the general public regarding drinking water and wastewater.
  • Assist with the preparation and disbursement of the collection and distribution system operating and capital budgets, and capital forecasts.
  • Participate in the supervising and developing a daily work schedule and assigning tasks, including coordination of staffing and work plans with other business units such as Metering and Backflow, Water Filtration or Wastewater Treatment, Roads, etc.
  • Participate and contribute to the Quality Management Systems for Drinking Water and Wastewater.
  • Stay up to date with current activities within the industry to help promote continual improvement, implement new technologies, and find efficiencies in activities and processes. Confident in change management and team building to maintain a culture of engaged and competent staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in a related field, such as Environmental Engineering or Environmental Technology.
  • MECP Operator Certificates and Licenses to facility classifications currently Water Distribution and Supply III and Wastewater Collection II. Possessing Water Treatment Class III and Wastewater Treatment Class IV is an asset.
  • Minimum four years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a supervisory role of unionized staff.
  • Current knowledge of all legislation relating to Collection and Distribution systems.
  • Strong public relations, supervisory, presentation, report writing skills as well as a budgeting and estimating background.
  • Working skill set with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, e-mail (Outlook), Teams, the internet and other software programs.
  • Possess a valid class \xe2\x80\x98G\xe2\x80\x99 Ontario driver\xe2\x80\x99s licence with an acceptable driver abstract.
  • An acceptable Criminal Record Check is required for this position at the incumbent\xe2\x80\x99s expense prior to the commencement date.
Compensation for this position is $100,032 to $117,023 plus a comprehensive benefits package, based on a 40-hour work week. Applications will be accepted until June 19th, 2023 at noon.
