What is the opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice President, Business Services, the Superintendent, Nisku Facility is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Energy Safety Canada's Nisku facility, including the Genesee location. Responsibilities include ensuring the facility is operated according to ESC's standards to provide a high-quality learning environment for clients and implementing the maintenance strategy to ensure safe and reliable operation of the oil and gas assets. The Superintendent is a member of the Operations Leadership Team. This role is safety sensitive.
What will you do:
Provide leadership to Facility staff and guidance on the operation and maintenance of the Nisku Facility. Demonstrate leadership in upholding ESC's behaviours and ensure the Nisku Facility adheres to ESC's policies and procedures, including but not limited to, the Code of Business Conduct, Operational Management System and Health and Safety Management System.
Implement the Maintenance Strategy for the oil and gas facilities to ensure the safe and reliable operation of these assets in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
Support effective cross-functional relationships with Energy Safety Canada's departments as a member of the Operations Leadership Team.
Promote the usage of the Nisku Facility according to the mandate of Energy Safety Canada's incorporation as a non-profit organization.
Develop operational and capital budgets on a yearly basis and manage expenditures monthly to ensure an accurate view of expenditures
Represent Energy Safety Canada in matters relating to regulatory and government agencies that have jurisdiction over Energy Safety Canada's oil and gas facilities (e.g. Alberta Environment & Parks, Alberta Energy Regulator, Alberta Boilers Safety Association, Leduc County)

What you need to succeed:
10+ years in leadership roles
5-10 years of experience managing the operation and maintenance of oil and gas facilities
Working knowledge of facility maintenance best practices, ABSA requirements, AER regulations and relevant CSA standards
Certified journeyman tradesperson and/or technical diploma/degree in related field
Leadership Skills - ability to motivate staff in meeting team and individual goals, objectives and targets while demonstrating congruence with ESC behaviours
Communication / Interpersonal Skills - ability to communicate effectively to employees, contractors, regulators and members of the senior management and executive teams
Organizational Skills - ability to plan and schedule operational and maintenance activities to ensure optimal facility utilization
Analytical / Problem-Solving Skills - ability to analyze complex problems and develop practical solutions in collaboration with subject matter experts
Mechanical aptitude and plant/process operational knowledge
Knowledge of health and safety concepts including process safety management
Working knowledge of MS Office 365
