Oversight of a team of 15-20 mine planners
Preparation of weekly, monthly, annual (budget), ten year and Life-of-Mine production schedules
Reconciliation processes
Pit optimization and design
Waste dump designs
Infrastructure (roads, power distribution, dewatering system, etc) design
Mining equipment fleet planning
Rehabilitation and closure planning
Reserve estimation
Workforce recruitment and development
Reporting of month end physicals for financial reporting
Identification of required data for input to planning processes
The Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC) is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletising plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-\xc3\x8eles, Quebec. It also operates a 418 kilometre railroad that links the mine to the port.What the role entails:This role is a great opportunity to lead a diverse team of skilled technical professionals. The role reports to the Manager - Mine Technical Services. In this role you will be responsible for:
Fostering a safe work environment within the mine planning team
Fostering inclusion and diversity with the mine planning team
Developing and mentoring an engaged and empowered mine planning workforce
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure timely access to input data for mine planning tasks and timely production of deliverables
Ensuring compliance with all internal and regulatory health, safety, environment and community requirements
Ensuring appropriate governance systems are in place to meet internal and external obligations
What you will need for this roleRequired:
Bachelor\'s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of eight years open pit mine planning experience
Preferred:
Experience leading a team of mining professionals
Operational experience
Canadian Professional Engineer status, or the ability to obtain it
Project Management experience
