BHP\'s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan\'s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.Jansen\'s construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.PurposeReporting to the Manager Resource Engineering, the Principal Mine Planning provides technical expertise in the design and optimization of underground mine designs to enable the progression of JS2 mine design, mine development, construction, and production ramp up.About the RoleIn this role, you will:

  • Develops integrated project deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure.
  • Assesses the impact of approved change requests on project plans, documents, and deliverables and shares updates with required stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Anticipates changes/future impacts relating to the current execution plan and proactively aligns the planning process to new forecasts and data
  • Coordinates priorities and develops ranged plans to articulate and manage materials risks associated with plan execution aligned to the approved business strategy.
  • Develops and delivers effective communication materials (e.g. update notifications, leader briefings) to obtain buy in to the tactical plan from both operational and functional stakeholders.
  • Translates strategic direction into practical plans, budgets and metrics that align and stretch the team to achieve high performance.
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
About You
  • Degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or comparable discipline
  • Minimum 5 years relevant commodity experience
  • Project management experience with a diverse range of stakeholders
