Our Team

Our Newfoundland and Labrador Operations are an integrated mining, milling, and processing operation. Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.

The Vale Newfoundland & Labrador (VNL) Reliability, Engineering, Operational Technology & Excellence team has accountabilities to deliver cost effective asset performance across the Vale mines and plants in the province.

The Opportunity

Vale recognizes the Impacts and Benefits Agreements with the Innu Nation and the Nunatsiavut Government in which Innu and Inuit workers have first preference for employment at the Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Mine Site. This is guided by an adjacency principle that first gives preference to those who live on the coast of Labrador, followed by those residing in the rest of Labrador, those residing on the island of the province, followed by the rest of Canada.

Next, priority will be given to Newfoundland and Labrador residents. We also welcome those who are willing to relocate back home and those looking to make NL their permanent home.

We are currently seeking an Asset Management Systems Superintendent to join the VNL Engineering & Reliability Department supporting our operations in Long Harbour and Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay, NL. This permanent position will be on a Monday to Friday schedule working primarily from the St Johns Office, with site visits as required to the Long Harbour and Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operations.

The Asset Management Systems Superintendent will be responsible for providing leadership to a team executing key Asset Management requirements in VNL and expertise for the development, execution, and monitoring of the site\xe2\x80\x99s 5-year Asset Capital Investment Plan.

In this position, you will

• Develop, support, and manage a team of Asset Management personnel.
• Provide guidance and support in the development of Reliability Programs, with strong liaison with Reliability and Engineering peers.
• Provide guidance and support in the development and implementation of VNL 5-year Capital Asset Plan.
• Lead the creation and management of the VNL Asset Management Team\xe2\x80\x99s budget.
• Liaise with peer Engineering, Reliability, OT Superintendents on support provided in terms of document control, budgeting, condition monitoring, etc.
• Provide support and input for annual budgeting process and related activities.
• Provide data for decision making / improvement activities e.g., Work Performance Metrics, Reliability KPIs etc.

About You

Education

• Undergraduate Degree
• MMP or SMRP designation is preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar role.

Skills

• Minimum 2 to 3 years in a technical or operational leadership role.
• Strong understanding of Risk Based analysis to decision making.
• Strong knowledge of Business Processes, Systems & Tools (VPS, Work Management, SAP, PowerBI).
• Strong Financial Understanding (Budgeting, CAPEX, etc.)

• Experience facilitating and influencing others, management teams.
