Are you passionate about Ucluelet and the surrounding area's rich natural and cultural heritage and want to share this passion with others?

The Wild Pacific Trail Society is looking for a Summer Trail Naturalist to encourage and inspire individuals to venture outside, learn, and experience nature. Through delivering interpretive programs and activities on the Wild Pacific Trail, the Trail Naturalist will provide visitors with opportunities to discover, appreciate, and learn about the area and its natural and cultural resources.

The position is a minimum of 30 hours per week; wage $20-$22 (dependent on experience). Time period is from May to the end of August.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide a positive and welcoming presence on the trail and respond to public inquiries. Delivery of different styles of interpretation programming (e.g., guided walks, roving, stationary display). Lead or assist on interpretive walks on various sections of the trail using existing topic outlines. Co-research and development of interpretive program offerings with a focus on the natural and cultural history of the west coast. Support with exhibit /display development including the designing of props and teaching aids. Enhance visitors' environmental awareness and stewardship through interactions, educational materials, and online platforms. Regular social media postings aimed at public engagement and praising best practices of trail users. Weekend staffing of the Wild Pacific Trail's Interpretive Centre at Amphitrite House.
Skills and Abilities:

Self-motivated, demonstrates initiative and ability to manage time and meet deadlines. Must work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to interact with and present to a wide variety of audiences.
Assets:

Knowledge of local history, ecology, and communities. Technical skills with social media, photography, and writing. Applicants with existing housing in the Ucluelet area is an asset.
