DEFINITION:
Under the direction of a Working Foreman, a student classification as defined by the Collective Agreement, who performs various manual labour tasks and operates small hand and power tools.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
• Perform manual labour including, but not limited to, shovel, rake and pick work, grass and brush clearing, public refuse collection etc.;
• Assist other employees with their duties including, but not limited to, gardening, janitorial duties, etc.;
• Operate power tools and equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mower, weedeater, and other hand tools;
• Drive light vehicles, as required;
• Inspect equipment daily for visible damage, for fluid and fuel requirements, electrical systems, tire checks, etc., and report any defects to Working Foreman;
• Shift work may be required;
• Other duties, as required.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
• Completion of 1 year of full time post-secondary education, continuing studies on a full time basis in September
• Ability to operate related equipment;
• Good physical condition and able to perform heavy manual labour;
• Ability to work independently and to accomplish tasks and assignments;
• Ability to deal effectively with co-workers and the public;
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence.
• First Aid training is considered an asset;
