, students are immersed in the full construction lifecycle--from site setup and safety protocols to scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
The Field or Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting with project and field coordination required to construct the project. These roles provide exposure to project controls, documentation, and collaboration with trades and consultants, helping students develop a strong foundation in construction management. By contributing to real projects, students not only enhance their technical skills but also gain insight into the teamwork and precision required to bring complex builds to life.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Keep project documents up to date for on-site action (drawings and specs) ensuring they are the latest version.
Write and compile various site reports for PM review including Daily Field Reports and update Workforce reporting requirements.
Set up and maintain site project filing system; coordinate and track all applicable clearance forms for the jobsite.
Prepare quantities for ordering and for project costing; prepare quantity take-off where directed.
Monitor the Quality Plan and conducting site quality reviews, update schedule weekly with PM and Superintendent.
Coordinate and assist with information distribution to subcontractor, own forces, and consultants.
Perform daily safety inspections with Superintendent and ensure HIT forms are filled out by all trades.
Preference is given to candidates with the following qualifications:
Student of Engineering (Civil, Biosystems, Mechanical or similar) or,
Student RRC Polytech Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related program.
Experience in the construction or engineering industry along with self-directed continued education, or keen interest in construction overall.
Basic knowledge of all aspects of construction; lean, quality, earned value, technology, equipment, materials, negotiation, estimating, scheduling, safety, design, and management.
Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel; knowledge of Procore, MS Project and Adobe/Bluebeam an asset
Self-starter, and possess a strong work ethic with a self-imposed desire to exceed everyday expectations.
