Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting applications for the casual position of Summer Recreation Tennis Instructor in Parks and Recreation. The Summer Recreation Tennis Instructor leads Tennis programs for a variety of age groups. The instructor must plan, and teach Tennis classes to campers who may vary in their abilities and experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily duties such as greeting participants,
  • Leading activities,
  • Ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants,
  • Organizing equipment and supplies,
  • Preparing for activities,
  • Distributing and collecting permission slips for outings,
  • Participating in staff meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Current technical and practical training at an advanced level in Tennis
  • At least one season/summer of experience working or volunteering with preschoolers/children/youth in a recreational setting
  • At least one season/summer of demonstrated program leadership skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Healthy Child Development
  • Previous experience working with persons with disabilities an asset
Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities
  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid (CSA Basic) and Level C CPR an asset
  • Successful completion of all training requirements (Including High Five and WHMIS) prior to start date
  • Must attended all training
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.

Please note - Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge. Candidates, who are selected for testing, may be tested in a group setting, scheduled at the employer\'s discretion.

WORK STATUS: Casual/Seasonal - June 19th, 2023 to August 25th 2023

HOURS OF WORK: Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule

SALARY: Non Union, $19.50 per hour(plus 4% vacation pay)

WORK LOCATION: Various Community Recreation Centres, including the following: Citadel Community Centre, Dartmouth North Community Center, Needham Community Center.
