POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a seasonal position from May 05 - August 29, 2025

Student returning to school preferred

This position is responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the municipality's parks and recreation facilities.

Following a maintenance schedule of the Town's parks, open areas, contracted sites that would include;

o Mowing & grass trimming

o Fertilizing

o Watering

Construction, repair, maintenance, and cleaning of recreational facilities, camping facilities, park buildings, pump houses, and irrigation systems

Assist with the planting, watering, and grooming of the Town's flowers, shrubs, and tree arrangements.

Work with crews on site

Operation of hand tools - manual and powered

Operation and service of a variety of equipment such as mowers, grass trimmers, fertilizer spreaders, pumps, irrigation systems, underground sprinkler systems, utility tractors, loaders and trucks

Report and documentation of all misuse, vandalism, damage, sustained to parks and recreational facilities

Follow the Town's the Health & Safety Procedures Manual

General cleaning and maintenance of Town Shop.

Performance of duties of similar complexity as assigned from time to time by the Director of Parks & Recreation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Considerable knowledge of municipal parks operation and maintenance practices and procedures.

Proficiency in record keeping and systems maintenance.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other agencies and the public

Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail, good communication skills, ability to work without close supervision.

Valid Alberta class 5 driver's license

Basic first aid and WHIMIS training

Must be able to lift 20 kg

Confined Space Entry and trenching training an asset.

THIS POSITION MAY BE FUNDED THROUGH THE CANADA SUMMER JOBS GRANT AND AS SUCH REQUIRES CANDIDATES TO BE CURRENTLY ENROLLED AS A STUDENT RETURNING TO STUDIES IN FALL 2025.
