Your Opportunity
The Town of Kentville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking the following:
Summer Parks Staff (8 positions available)
Reporting to the Supervisor, Facility
Operations, this position is responsible for the maintenance of the Town of Kentville green
spaces, trails, and other sport and recreational spaces. This position involves physical outdoor
labor, and the position will be needed for weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Daily supervision
and scheduling will fall to the Supervisor, Facility Operations.
Parks employees should enjoy being outside and be capable of daily physical labor. Successful
applicants will have some experience or be comfortable using small scale equipment such as
hedge trimmers, lawn mowers, whipper-snippers, and hand tools. Parks employees learn
valuable skills including basic green space management techniques, teamwork, and equipment
maintenance, all while in a fun and supportive environment.
As a Town of Kentville Summer Park Staff, you must possess:
A valid driver's license
We are looking for an individual who: Is hard working;
Can work both individually and as part of a team;

Loves the outdoors (in all weather);
A creative problem solver and able to adapt quickly;
Has a strong work ethic;
Has strong people skills and can remain professional and welcoming when interacting
with members of the public.
This is a 40 hour/week opportunity with some evenings and weekends as required. There are
three start and end dates for employment:
April 14 to August 29 - (3) employment opportunities
May 20 to August 29 - (2) employment opportunities
June 30 to August 29 - (3) employment opportunities
All positions run until August 29. If applicants are able to work full time or part time hours past
the August 29 end date, please specify in the application. Compensation is $17.00 - $18.00
depending on experience. Please indicate on your application what date you are available to
start.
Two key positions within our parks team are:
? Keeping our downtown looking vibrant during the summer months by keeping all
hanging baskets and planters watered.
and
? Keeping our sports fields established (painting lines) and groomed (trimming around
obstacles and fences, cleaning washrooms and facilities, etc.).
These are the main priorities of these positions with other park responsibilities listed above
