Whitby, Ontario L1N 4V7 CONTRACT Summer position: July to August, 35hrs/week REPORTS TO Camp Program Supervisor and Operations Manager FOOTPRINTS is non-profit volunteer-led registered charitable organization governed by a dedicated Steering Committee with diverse industry expertise throughout Durham. Programs provide quality respite care for families with children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We offer recreational respite (not therapy) in a positive, safe, and fun environment. RESPONSIBILITIES Camp:
  • Implement camp programs as outlined/designed by the Camp Program Supervisor and assist with any program preparation as needed.
  • Greet and screen clients/volunteers at the beginning of each session.
  • Brief with camp team and volunteers on program session.
  • Prepare program room(s) with volunteers prior to start of program session. Restore the room with volunteers to its original state at the end of the program day.
  • Support supervision of clients and encourage participation as scheduled in the program plan. Collaborate with supervisor and volunteers to meet needs of client as required.
  • Support mentorship of volunteers.
  • Create and lead indoor and outdoor activities with volunteers.
  • Adhere to all policy and procedures and ensure compliance with all current Covid19 measures.
  • Debrief with camp team at the end of the program day. Communication to include highlights of the day, outstanding volunteer support and all incidents and/or concerns.
  • Be on site for camp hours and arrive fifteen (15) minutes before the morning session and stay fifteen (15) minutes after each camp day to support set-up and clean-up of program.
  • Debrief with team and provide feedback, and complete shift report at the end of each camp day.
  • Adhere to all policy and procedures and ensure compliance with all current Covid19 measures. Identify and report immediately to the program supervisor with any issues or concerns regarding health and safety.
Administration:
  • Attend all training and orientation, and meetings as required.
  • Support program supervisor and/or Operations Manager with reporting including input for program development.
  • Collaborate with program supervisors and/or Operations Manager to support awareness and education of autism through initiatives/projects such as marketing and fundraising.
  • Collaborate with all members of FOOTPRINTS to enhance the overall quality and development of programs.
SELECTION CRITERIA
  • Able to travel, attend and work flexible hours - in-person meetings, events and program service delivery.
  • Have access to technology to work remotely.
  • Exceptional communication, customer service and team work skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite; experienced with various social media platforms is an asset.
  • Camp experience supporting children is an asset.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check will be required for individuals over the age of 18.
  • Covid19: Team is fully vaccinated and are required to have 2 doses to attend in-person
