SPA- Inclusion Support Animator
is an individual who provides one-on-one support to a child with additional needs while actively contributing to the overall group environment.
Responsibilities:
This role involves providing dedicated one-on-one support to a camper who requires additional assistance to fully engage in the day camp experience. In addition to supporting the individual camper, the Inclusion Support Animator helps foster a positive group dynamic within a cohort of approximately 10 to 15 children. The animator collaborates closely with the camp leadership team, families, and fellow staff members to promote the camper's successful integration and overall well-being throughout the summer.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent one-on-one support to a camper with specific social, emotional, behavioral, or physical needs to promote successful inclusion in all camp activities.
Collaborate with the lead animator and fellow team members to maintain a supportive and structured environment for the entire group.
Encourage positive peer interactions and help facilitate friendships between the supported child and their peers.
Anticipate and de-escalate potential behavioral challenges using proactive and positive behavior strategies.
Adapt activities and transitions as needed to support the child's individual needs while keeping them engaged in-group routines.
Communicate regularly with the Camp Coordinator and families (as needed) to share successes, strategies, and daily updates.
Assist with supervision of the group and contribute to camp activities, games, and routines when appropriate.
Complete required reports, tracking sheets, and/or observations as requested by the camp leadership team.
Provide appropriate support, promote healthy relationships, boundaries and initiate preventive measures (conflict resolution) amongst the members and participants.
Follow and implement all BGC Dawson policies and procedures.
Participate in all activities and outings with members.
Attend and participate in all team trainings and meetings.
Be familiar with all day camp changes.
Follow programs' intervention procedures for all crisis and emergency.
Complete all forms as needed and submit to the Programs Coordinator or Director immediately. (Incident/accident reports, statistics, programming reports, etc.)
Ensure all rooms are cleaned and tidied before vacating the premises.
Accurately complete timesheets and submit them no later than 9:00 PM on Thursdays.
Punctuality and schedules are to be respected.
Report any absences at least 4 hours in advance to the Programs Coordinator via email, text, or phone. For absences exceeding 4 days, a doctor's note is required to return to work.
Other assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
Post-Secondary studies (or in the process of completing a post-secondary education in Community Recreation Leadership Training [CRLT], Social Services, Leisure Sciences, Early Childhood Education, Human Relations or equivalent [an asset]
Specialized training and expertise in early childhood education and development.
Minimum age of 18 years.
Energetic, mindful, and enthusiastic about working with children.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support other staff members.
Strong organizational skills, with experience in program planning and implementation.
Bilingual in English and French.
First aid certification is an asset; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified.

Principales responsabilites
Offrir un soutien individualise coherent a un campeur ayant des besoins sociaux, emotionnels, comportementaux ou physiques specifiques.
Travailler en collaboration avec l'animateur principal et l'equipe pour maintenir un environnement structure et bienveillant.
Favoriser les interactions positives entre les enfants et encourager les liens entre le campeur accompagne et ses pairs.
Anticiper et desamorcer les comportements problematiques par des strategies proactives et positives.
Adapter les activites et transitions selon les besoins individuels de l'enfant tout en maintenant sa participation aux routines de groupe.
Communiquer regulierement avec la coordination du camp et les familles pour transmettre les reussites, strategies et observations quotidiennes.
Contribuer a la supervision du groupe, aux activites, aux jeux et aux routines, selon les besoins.
Remplir les rapports, grilles de suivi et observations demandes par l'equipe de direction.
Promouvoir un climat sain, des relations respectueuses, des limites claires et des approches preventives (gestion de conflits).
Participer a toutes les activites, sorties, formations et reunions d'equipe.
Suivre les politiques, les procedures et les protocoles d'intervention en situation de crise et d'urgence de BGC Dawson.
Completer et remettre tous les formulaires requis (rapports d'incident, statistiques, fiches de planification, etc.).
Maintenir les locaux propres et en ordre avant de quitter les lieux.
Remplir les feuilles de temps avec exactitude et les soumettre au plus tard le jeudi a 21 h.
Respecter les horaires et faire preuve de ponctualite.
Aviser la coordination au moins 4 heures a l'avance en cas d'absence. Un billet medical est requis apres 4 jours d'absence.

Qualifications
o
Etudes postsecondaires en cours ou completees dans un domaine connexe (TRCJ, services sociaux, loisirs, education a la petite enfance, relations humaines, ou equivalent).
Formation specialisee ou expertise en developpement de l'enfant (un atout).
Age minimum requis : 18 ans.
Energie, attention, et enthousiasme pour travailler avec les enfants.
Verification des antecedents judiciaires requise.
Capacite a collaborer au sein d'une equipe.
Competences en organisation et en planification d'activites.
Bilinguisme anglais-francais requis.
Certification en premiers soins (un atout) ou volonte de l'obtenir.

Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
