The Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA) has a proud legacy of over a century in shaping students who contribute to the future of Calgary, Canada, and beyond. Established in 1987 through the merger of the Calgary Hebrew School (1912) and the I.L. Peretz School (1927), CJA serves students from Nursery to Grade 9 in a safe, supportive, and challenging environment. The school fosters Jewish identity and community while delivering a rigorous dual curriculum that integrates the Alberta Curriculum with Judaic Studies.

Position Overview:


CJA is seeking qualified, caring, and adaptable

substitute Early Childhood Educators (ECE Level 2 & 3)

to support our

Early Years classrooms

for the 2025-2026 school year. This role involves working with young learners, implementing planned activities, and supporting classroom routines.

Key Responsibilities:



Provide care and supervision for children in Early Years classrooms. Follow lesson plans, routines, and activities provided by lead educators. Support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children. Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment. Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and families. Adapt to different Early Years classrooms and age groups as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:



Early Childhood Educator Level 2 or Level 3 certification. Previous experience in early childhood education preferred. Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate learning strategies. Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills. Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles. Commitment to professional development and the vision and mission of CJA. Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
