Essential Responsibilities





Provides team leadership for (discipline) + Evaluating resource availability and actively engaging the design manager with team status.
+ Technical mentorship to resources performing (discipline) design
+ Facilitates technical growth of drafters and junior designers
+ Supports team innovation and process automation
+ Ensures team quality expectations are understood and followed
Manages small and minimally complex projects with the support of other disciplines, engineers, and project managers. + Small Definition - <$150k (approx.)
+ Minimally Complex Definition - Substation only disciplines (P&C, physical, and civil/structural), or retrofit projects (i.e. a utility transformer and/or breaker replacement project)
Performs design and operates CAD as required to support meeting project requirements. + Ideally the majority of CAD work will be performed by junior designers and drafters, but the lead designer still needs to be able to operate CAD effectively.
Performs technical QA/QC of other's designs
Supports input into proposals (man-hours estimates and scheduling)

Understand substation equipment and design processes Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs Field experience 3D Modeling experience a plus Substation Design Suite (SDS/Inventor) experience a plus AutoCAD Inventor Experience a plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to lead and be part of a project team
