The Centre for Innovation (C4I) at Medicine Hat College (MHC) is pleased to offer a Student Research Assistant position in partnership with the local Police Service. We invite current Medicine Hat College students in Information Technology or related programs who are motivated, analytical, and interested in public service technology to apply.

A little about the role:





As the Student Research Assistant, you will play a key role in evaluating the Police Service's current website, public mobile app and gathering departmental input to inform future updates. Your work will directly contribute to improving digital communication and service delivery for the community. The Service plans to combine the features of the current website, and current public mobile app into a new monolithic web application which is mobile friendly and behaves the same as a traditional mobile app including push notifications.


Review and assess the current Police Service website for usability, accessibility, and functionality. Review and assess the current Police Service public mobile app for usability, accessibility, and functionality. Conduct interviews with various stakeholders to understand their digital needs and priorities as it relates to both the public website and mobile app. Analyze and document technical and user requirements for a website update and mobile app replacement. Prepare a summary report outlining findings, recommendations, and a comprehensive deduplicated list of technical requirements.

Terms of Employment


Terms of Employment: November 24, 2025 - April 30, 2026

Hours of Work: 10 hours per week

Wage Rate: $20.00 per hour
