Job Description

The School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences is seeking one student Research Assistant to assist with a funded project to explore the use of Machine learning in enhancing the existing wellness tools to support the mental health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This project is focused on the existing wellness tools being used in the industry to support the mental health of employees within client organizations. To achieve this, the existing solutions employ data collection and analysis techniques to identify key factors influencing employees\' mental well-being. By suggesting activities and routine adjustments, these tools aim to promote good mental health, benefiting both the individual employee and the overall productivity of the client organization
• This project aims to enhance the existing system by defining distinct mood categories, refining the data collection process through the inclusion of mood-centric questions, and leveraging machine learning techniques to associate specific activities with different mood categories. By employing machine learning models, the project seeks to proactively suggest preventive measures that help employees maintain positive moods within acceptable ranges
• The refined data collection process and machine learning models will empower employees to make informed decisions and engage in activities that promote their well-being
• Ultimately, the project endeavors to foster a positive work environment that prioritizes mental health while simultaneously driving productivity within client organizations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Student enrolled in a program at UPEI
• In-depth knowledge Data Science techniques and algorithms that can be demonstrated by the student\'s performance in the Data Science and/or Machine learning course(s)
• Student with strong background in Mathematical analysis, and web- and app-development
• Knowledge of using Python libraries to analyze the collected user data using machine learning techniques
