Position SummaryFor the first phase of the project, the successful candidate will assist with collecting data via audio-recorded interviews of research participants.The candidate will be required to travel within Saskatchewan to conduct interviews.The candidate will attend the Saskatoon trad session with Dr. McDougall once. Most importantly, the candidate must be available to attend a local folk music camp from August 5th- 9th with Dr. McDougall to aid in collecting data and making community connections. All expenses for travel (lodging, food and tuition will be covered). For the second phase of the project, the candidate will assist with data organization and analysis as well as with live recording music sessions.Position RequirementsWhile graduate students in the Faculty of Media, Art and Performance will be given preference, undergraduate students in MAP will be considered.The successful candidate must have either research interests or personal experience in music. Interest in/experience with Irish/Scottish traditional music specifically will be an asset. Ability to play a trad (or trad-adjacent) instrument is an asset (including but not limited to fiddle, guitar, piano, banjo, mandolin, whistle, bagpipes etc.). The candidate should have some experience working with audio recording technology. The candidate will possibly assist with more intricate data analysis via Music Encoding, but all training necessary for this will be provided.
