What You Will Do:

• As part of a dynamic team responsible for keeping Bracebridge beautiful and safe, you will assist with maintaining parks, trails and associated facilities by making sure they are clean and safe for use.
• Keep our roadways safe by performing general maintenance including grass cutting, tree trimming, vegetation control, litter collection and painting.
• Participate in projects such as culvert installation and perform maintenance operations including traffic control.
• Develop your skills and learn more about a career in Public Works by working with an engaging team of experts.
• Your safety is our priority! Keep safe by attending daily tailgate meetings, safety talks and follow the Town\xe2\x80\x99s health and safety policies and relevant legislation such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.
• This position reports to the department Foreperson(s) and is expected to start May 1, 2023 and end September 1, 2023.

We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic, customer service focused and who has the following:

• Enrollment in full-time, post-secondary studies for the 2023/2024 school year.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with members of the public, coworkers and others in a friendly, courteous and effective manner.
• Experience with the safe operation and handling of equipment and tools such as grass trimmers, lawnmowers and hand tools, and cleaning products.
• Ability to work independently and as part of the team.
• Valid Ontario Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (Class G2 or Class G) with an acceptable, current driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract.
• Ability to provide an acceptable criminal record check.
• Experience with, or willingness to learn, relevant safety legislation.
• Available to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends and evenings.
