Reporting to the Project Controls Team Lead, the software engineer Co-op Student is responsible for the coding, mapping, innovative design and support of Downstream Capital projects team in gathering multiple Projects data into defined data sets applicable for project Controls reporting and performance measurement. This assignment involves multiple data transfers from and to different applications and software (Web based design tools, MS access, MS excel, MS Power BI and etc.

Responsibilities

• Develop a well-designed Dataset for transferring and organizing raw web-based data from and to multiple software and tools.
• Develop and create relational database schemas, requesting data from various back-end services.
• Create/maintain documentation and provide research/analytics as required.
• Set up routine (and ad hoc) reports and visualization
• Project controls-related tasks such as progress and cost report updates, dashboards, Project reconciliation analysis and data gathering
• Develop and create relational database and Power Bi models for Turnaround

Qualifications

• Legally entitled to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)
• Available to begin work in January, 2024

Competences/ Skills

• Knowledge of Software Engineering principles;
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards;
• Familiarity Programming SQL, DAX (Data Analysis expressions)
• Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Self-motivated and results driven;
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills;

• Has an interest in working in a team environment;
• Proficient with MS Office suite of applications and computer systems.

Education

• Must be enrolled in an Engineering or Business Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
• Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
• A valid Canadian class 5 Driver\'s License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role
• New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.

• May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
