Primary Purpose:




Under the direction of the Student Success Office, the Student Life Assistant plays a key role in enhancing student experience by supporting campus events, engagement initiatives, and community-building activities. This position assists with the planning, setup, and facilitation of events; promotes programs and initiatives through in-person outreach and digital platforms; and provides support during key institutional events such as New Student Orientation and student engagement initiatives.


This role is ideal for students who are enthusiastic about campus involvement, enjoy connecting with others, and want to contribute to creating an inclusive and vibrant university community. The Student Life Assistant will gain hands-on experience in event coordination, communication, and leadership while fostering a welcoming environment for all students.

Position Summary



Provide support to the Student Engagement team, facilitating programs and events with assistance from Student Life Facilitators. Promote on-campus initiatives such as UNFConnect, the Co-Curricular Record, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award, encouraging students to increase their involvement in the UNF community. Support New Student Orientation, connecting with other student leaders and orientation staff to ensure programming is welcoming, inclusive, and well-organized. Act as a key point of contact for other student leaders and volunteers, providing a key level of communication and support. Other duties as assigned.

Must be in good academic standing. Willing to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and solve complex problems. Demonstrated ability for collaboration and teamwork. Actively participates in fostering a welcoming environment at UNF.

Opportunity Requirements



Must be enrolled as a student withing the University of Niagara Falls Canada during the entire duration of the contract. Preferred that at start date, student has completed one term Student has not exceeded the maximum of a six (6)-month term in any one department, coupled with a minimum of a three (3) month break in employment from UNF Student is not currently in a capstone project or internship. Preference for cumulative average of 70%. Must be available for a minimum of 1 shift per week. Must be available for evening and weekend work, as scheduled. Experience in a customer service role is required. Experience in student services is considered an asset.
