PURPOSE: The Student Construction Labourer is responsible to ensure the APM MacLean job sites are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner. The incumbent will assist the carpenters and Site Superintendent on site. REPORTS TO: This position reports to the Site Superintendent. RESPONSIBILITIES: \xc2\xb7 Clean and prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures \xc2\xb7 Clean debris, trash and hazardous materials from construction sites \xc2\xb7 Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding and other temporary structures \xc2\xb7 Help equipment operator, carpenters and other skilled labour when necessary. \xc2\xb7 Follow instructions from supervisors. \xc2\xb7 Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixes; and mix, pour and spread concrete \xc2\xb7 Dig trenches \xc2\xb7 Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials \xc2\xb7 Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately \xc2\xb7 Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks and move to respective work areas The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: \xc2\xb7 Cleanliness of job sites and facilities meets or exceeds company standards \xc2\xb7 High level of awareness as it relates to safety standards, security, and site cleanliness QUALIFICATIONS: \xc2\xb7 High School Diploma or GED \xc2\xb7 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 general labourer experience with commercial, retail and institutional construction sites preferred \xc2\xb7 A valid driver license \xc2\xb7 Ability to work in all weather \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools \xc2\xb7 Strong time management and organizational skills; able to complete work in a timely manner and to a high-quality level \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures \xc2\xb7 Safe lifting (up to 50 lbs), kneeling, pushing, pulling and stretching are all required to fulfill cleaning duties \xc2\xb7 Effective verbal and listening communication skills This is a full-time seasonal position, with salary which commensurate with qualifications and experience.
