About the Opportunity
About One Person One Record (OPOR):
One Person One Record is a vision and strategy for healthcare transformation in Nova Scotia, in partnership with Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. This agile program takes an experimental, and evidence-informed approach to the re-design of healthcare processes. OPOR enables a foundation for improved health system governance, integration of patient information across the care continuum, and the standardization of processes and practices.
This internship provides a unique student opportunity to participate and gain experience within multiple program projects.
OPOR consists of a multidisciplinary team from Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health with a variety of clinical, business, IT, program management, and leadership backgrounds. The team works collaboratively with internal and external partner organizations to provide expertise in guiding the transformation of healthcare in Nova Scotia. The OPOR program contains multiple components:
OPOR Clinical Information System (OPOR-CIS): This project involves the replacement of the three existing hospital information systems with a core Clinical Information System. It is designed to simplify the clinical systems environment enabling it to be extended into the larger community.
OPOR Clinical Standardization: The organizational focus of this project is the implementation of governance, and evidence informed best practice in standardization. The work supports the overall One Person strategy and is foundational to the implementation of OPOR-CIS. OPOR Clinical Standardization represents a coordinated approach to the development and delivery of provincially adjudicated and clinician-developed clinical standardization.
OPOR Clinical Adoption, Organization Change Management, Education and Learning, Training and Support is the organizational focus on implementation of the OPOR-CIS as well as the ongoing needs for adoption, training, and support related to use of technology in clinical practice. This work supports the overall OPOR strategy of continuous learning, improvement, and care transformation.
