Position Title
Student Advisor (Term)


Required Qualifications
  • University Degree in a related field.
  • 2 years previous related experience
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Sound interpersonal, communication, advisory skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team member

A combination of education, experience, and knowledge acceptable to the College may also be considered.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with International Student Advising is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to Social Science background.
  • Knowledge of the College goals, programs, and services
  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems (preferably Power Campus) would be an asset
  • Considerable knowledge of the Alberta High School system, as well as entrance requirements to programs at Alberta post-secondary institutions.

Keyano College is currently seeking a Student Advisor. Reporting to the Manager, Work Integrated Learning & Enrollment Services, our Student Advisors use a developmental process, which considers an individual\xe2\x80\x99s needs, goals, interests, and prior academic/non-academic experiences to effectively broaden the student\xe2\x80\x99s ability to successfully design and implement an individualized educational plan. Through this approach, the Student Advisor is expected to research, analyze, develop, and deliver services in several ways. Essential skills in public relations, communications, research, and accuracy in the delivery of information are fundamental to the Student Advising role. This position is required to provide excellent customer service from the initial point of contact through to convocation.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • manage and oversee student files
  • handle student inquiries
  • advise on credit programming
  • assist students with the registration process

This is a term position with an end date of June 30, 2023 with a possibility an extension.


Advertised Salary
CUPE IS6 $63,496.23 per annum, plus an attractive benefits package. This position qualifies for the Northern Living Allowance of $1,040.00 per month. This allowance is reviewed annually and is subject to budget approval.
