to support and integrate the efforts of our Structural Steel Design and Drafting team with Structural Steel Shop operations. This is a senior coordinator role intended for an experienced structural steel professional who can bridge engineering, fabrication, and project management.
The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain accurate structural steel quantity and progress tracking, while working directly with shop supervisors and foremen on scheduling and daily fabrication status.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive structural steel quantity and progress trackers ensuring consistent implementation and adoption by various team members.
Drive structural steel fabrication planning to meet schedule commitments, including weekly lookahead planning, constraint removal (drawings/materials/resources), and proactive recovery planning when variances occur.
Coordinate daily with structural steel shop supervisors and foremen to capture and validate fabrication progress.
Support structural steel purchasing activities in coordination with project management and procurement
Assist with structural steel shop loading and fabrication sequencing
Coordinate structural steel resource loading to align with project schedules and priorities
Support continuous improvement in tracking, reporting, and communication processes
Provide regular progress updates and reporting to the Project Manager's Office
Required Experience and Qualifications
Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Excel required); capable of developing, troubleshooting, and improving spreadsheet-based tracking and reporting tools.
Strong working knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes and shop workflows with prior experience as a structural steel welding shop manager, supervisor, foreman, designer, etc.
Proven ability to track quantities, progress, and resource utilization in a fabrication environment
Assets
Journeyman Welder, CWB Inspector, Engineer, or Engineering Technologist
Experience with fabrication tracking systems, spreadsheets, or project controls tools
Work Schedule and Expectations
On-site role at Bunch's Clearwater Fabrication Facility
Typical schedule is 5 days on, 2 days off, working 10-hour days
Overtime will be required as project demands increase
Work schedule may shift to 6 days on, 1 day off during peak project periods
Occasional weekend or extended-hour coordination may be required to support fabrication schedules
