Structural Steel Fabrication Plant Manager

Job Description
The Steel Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing all fabrication shop activities, managing staff, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification, and driving operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of steel fabrication, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with employees, clients, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the fabrication shop, including scheduling, production, and quality control Supervise and mentor welders, fabricators, and installers Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and contractors to meet deadlines and specifications Maintain equipment, shop safety, and compliance with CWB and industry standards Implement process improvements to optimize productivity and reduce waste Oversee inventory management, purchasing, and cost control Ensure a safe, positive, and efficient work environment
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in steel fabrication, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role Strong knowledge of miscellaneous metals, including stairs, railings, and architectural steelwork Familiarity with CWB certification requirements and welding procedures Proven track record of managing teams and delivering projects on time and within budget Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Preferred Skills:
Experience in CNC fabrication equipment and AutoCAD/Shop drawings Strong relationships within the construction industry (GCs, architects, contractors) Ability to read and interpret engineering/architectural drawings Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles is an asset

Pay: $73,530.28-$143,881.10 per year
