Position Overview
We are seeking a
Tekla Structures Drafter
with experience in preparing detailed shop drawings for both
structural steel and rebar.
The successful candidate will play a key role in transforming engineering designs into accurate and buildable shop drawings that meet industry standards, client requirements, and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare
steel fabrication and erection shop drawings
using
Tekla Structures
or any similar software.
Material take off and estimation of structural steel and rebar projects
Develop
rebar shop drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS)
in compliance with project specifications and codes.
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve design and detailing issues.
Review and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and standards.
Generate reports, material lists, and bar cutting lists directly from Tekla or other software.
Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code.
Participate in internal drawing reviews and implement corrections promptly.
Maintain organized project files and ensure proper documentation control.
Qualifications & Skills
Proficiency in Tekla Structures
(steel and rebar modules required).
Diploma or degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
Experience in preparing
quantity take-offs and material summaries
.
Minimum
2-5 years of experience
in steel and/or rebar detailing.
Strong understanding of
shop drawing standards
, fabrication processes, and rebar placement methods.
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (AISC, ACI, CSA, ASTM, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret structural/architectural drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills
Experience with
AutoCAD, Revit, or other 3D modeling software
.
Previous work in
BIM coordination
environments.
Familiarity with construction site practices and installation methods.
