Overview


As a Structural Engineer at DG Biddle, you will lead the design of structural systems for a wide range of projects, including buildings, industrial frames, and the evaluation of existing structures. You will take projects from concept to construction, applying advanced technical expertise in materials such as wood steel, concrete, and masonry

In this role, you will manage the preparation of construction documents, oversee construction reviews, and coordinate closely with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure quality, completeness, and design intent.

This position is suited for an Ontario licensed engineer who thrives in a small, diversified company environment, enjoys solving complex structural challenges, and is ready to take ownership of projects.

Duties



Lead and develop structural engineering designs for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects from concept through to construction completion.

Design structural systems using wood, steel, concrete, and masonry Prepare comprehensive building permit documents, including structural drawings and specifications. Prepare proposals, tender and contract documents. Perform construction reviews to verify general conformance to approved designs. Lead coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, clearly communicating structural design intent. Conduct field inspections of existing structures and provide technical reports with clear recommendations. Prepare concise and accurate site visit reports to document observations and actions. Ensure a high standard of quality, performing quality control reviews on all deliverables and maintaining DG Biddle's commitment to engineering excellence. Continuously grow professional skills and knowledge through mentorship, training sessions, seminars, workshops, and involvement in associations.

Skills



Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 7-10 years of structural experience designing wood, steel, concrete, and masonry, structures A licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng. designation) with Professional Engineers Ontario is required. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Building Code and reference material design standards. Advanced working knowledge of Structural Analysis software (such as ETABS, S-Conc, S-Calc) working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team player and able to work independently with minimal oversight. Able to prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills. Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
