Responsibilities for this position are summarized below:
Perform calculations and prepare specification and detail designs for various structures in accordance with applicable codes and industry standards.
Prepare proposals.
Supervise the production of design drawings.
Establish and maintain cordial, close relationships with clients or their representatives.
Lead structural design and manage multi-disciplinary projects with various clients private and public.
Oversee or participate in on site inspections and condition investigations of various structures.
Conduct field reviews, inspections and condition assessments.
Prepare technical reports and memos and participate in presentations as required.
Perform site inspections and contract administrator duties during construction phase of projects.
Review Contractor shop drawings.
Prepare and allocate budgets and prepare proposals for obtaining new work.
Work within the assigned project budget and schedule.
Perform quality control reviews of structural services provided by the Company.
Mentor other staff and help develop the next generation.
Report to senior management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in civil/structural engineering (Masters in Structural Engineering an asset)
Valid, Class G Ontario Drivers License
Registered Professional Engineer, Licensed in Ontario
5+ years' experience in structural engineering
Design experience on a variety of project types, with a focus on bridges and infrastructure.
Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
Proficient with Ontario Building Code and Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code as well as standards for design of concrete, steel, and wood structures.
Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software, such as Midas Civil 3D
Proficient with AutoCAD (Microstation an asset)
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
Experience with design of concrete, steel, and wood structures.
