We're Caskanette & Associates Consulting Engineers and we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Civil or Structural Engineer to join our team. Position Overview
As our newest
Structural Engineer,
you will be involved in a wide variety of interesting projects working in a fast-paced environment, often in response to emergencies. We attend damaged buildings to assess the structural damage from explosions, fires, water, wind, tornadoes, vehicle or tree impacts, soil vibration, or other perils. Working with a diverse team of engineers and technologists from various disciplines, you'll advise our clients on required emergency shoring, cause of damages, and repair options.
Key Responsibilities
Field work, examining damaged buildings, gathering data for analysis
Analysis of data to determine cause of damage and/or restoration options
Report preparation and reviewing drawings prepared by our in-house drafting team to present expert opinions and recommendations
Testify as an expert witness when necessary to settle a dispute.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Licensed by PEO as a P. Eng.
Experience working as a structural engineer
Good knowledge of Ontario Building Code
Experience designing in wood (steel and concrete design an asset)
Experience with project management, technical report writing
Related consulting or client facing experience is an asset
Experience evaluating existing building conditions for residential homes, small commercial buildings, and barns/farms is an asset
Ability to travel extensively across southwestern Ontario
Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle

- you can work independently with minimal supervision. You'll have support when needed, but you don't need anyone to hold your hand.

- you are comfortable in a client-facing role and have a natural ability to work effectively with many types of people.

- you'll be interacting with clients, property owners, consultants, contractors and vendors across multiple projects. You can adjust your style to suit any audience and achieve clarity in every medium.
Location
Candidates should reside in Southwestern Ontario, ideally between Chatham and Kitchener, but other areas will be considered
Work from a home office when not attending site visits
Compensation
We offer a competitive salary of $85,000 to $125,000 per annum, commensurate with experience (based on OSPE survey data). You'll also enjoy:
