Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented

Structural Engineer

with experience in

building systems design

. The ideal candidate will work on a wide range of projects including Residential, commercial buildings, offices, schools, and residential developments.

Core responsibilities

Design and analysis:

Carry out manual and computerized calculations for structural loads and analysis. Design structural elements, including foundations and frames for wood, steel and concrete structures.

Compliance and safety:

Knowledge of latest building codes, safety standards, and legal regulations. Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards.

Project oversight and management:

Collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to define project requirements. Prepare construction specifications and procedures. Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and compliance with design specifications. Review and approve shop drawings and technical documents. Oversee construction work schedules and manage projects from conception to completion.

Structural assessment:

Analyze the structural integrity of existing buildings and structures. Make recommendations for maintenance, expansions, or repairs.
Key skills and qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is required. Registration with APEGA is desirable. Minimum 1 year experience working as an engineer in a consulting engineering firm. Strong knowledge of CSA codes for design of wood, steel, concrete structures. Proficiency in AutoCAD is desirable. Deep understanding of building codes and regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail.
