Job Description

AIL Soundwalls is looking for a

Structural Designer

to support the design and development of innovative, cost-effective soundwall solutions for

Canadian, U.S., and international

markets. In this role, you'll contribute to low-to-medium risk projects, apply sound engineering judgment, and collaborate with a team committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do




Reporting to the

Engineering & Operations Manager, Sound Wall Division

you will:

Design Structures:

Support the design of innovative, cost-effective soundwall products for Canadian, U.S., and international markets, primarily on

low to medium risk

projects.

Structural & Geotechnical Analysis:

Apply engineering tools (including

finite element analysis

where appropriate) to evaluate structural and geotechnical behavior. Support investigations related to soil conditions, loading, and site-specific constraints.

Research & Development:

Contribute to R&D initiatives by exploring new materials, methods, and design approaches to improve performance, efficiency, and durability.

Issue Resolution:

Address and resolve

low-risk

issues during design, fabrication, or construction while maintaining schedule and quality expectations.

Code Compliance:

Ensure designs meet applicable

Canadian, U.S., and international codes

, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Process Execution:

Apply Standard Operating Procedures (

SOPs

) to maintain consistency, quality, and traceability across design activities.

Documentation:

Prepare clear calculations, reports, and drawings to communicate technical details to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Collaboration & Mentorship:

Work closely with colleagues, co-op students, and new hires--providing guidance and supporting capability development.

What you bring



Bachelor of Engineering

with knowledge and experience in

structural and geotechnical engineering

Eligible to register as a

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario within 2-3 years

1-2 years

of engineering experience (consulting firm and/or specialist product environment) Strong critical thinking and sound engineering judgment Effective project management, planning, and organizational skills

Assets (nice to have)



Refined analysis /

finite element

experience in geotechnical and/or structural engineering * Experience with industry-recognized software such as

Tekla
