Structural Designer

About the Role
The
Structural Designer
will be responsible for developing innovative packaging solutions that balance creativity, functionality, and manufacturability. This role works closely with sales, prepress, and production teams to design folding cartons, displays, and specialty packaging that meet customer expectations and run efficiently on our manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Design packaging structures (folding cartons, corrugated, displays, specialty formats) from concept through to production.
Create dielines, CAD drawings, and prototypes using Impact packaging design software.
Collaborate with sales and account managers to interpret customer requirements and translate them into effective structural solutions.
Work with production teams to ensure designs are cost-effective, efficient to manufacture, and optimized for gluing, die-cutting, foiling, and finishing.
Prepare 3D renderings, mock-ups, and prototypes for internal review and customer presentations.
Research and recommend materials and sustainable packaging options.
Maintain a library of structural samples and technical specifications.
Participate in press checks, die reviews, and product trials when required.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in structural packaging design (folding carton preferred).
Proficiency with Impact or ArtiosCAD (or equivalent packaging CAD software).
Strong understanding of packaging materials (CRB, CUK, SUS, specialty boards) and converting processes (die-cutting, foiling, gluing, UV coating, lamination).
Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat for working with artwork and dielines.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Pay: $24.00-$31.00 per hour
