2025 Strawberry Crew

Just A Mere Organic Farm is a small, family owned, and certified organic farm located just outside of the beautiful town of Creston, BC. As we evolve from tree fruit production into berry growing, we are seeking for a crew to manage our hydroponic strawberry towers.

Our farm values hard work, individual initiative, a commitment to organics, and a relentless focus on quality products. We work hard to grow and deliver market leading organic food to our wholesale customers in the BC Interior, Lower Mainland and Asian markets and have a reputation for providing award-winning organic fruits to our markets. Our products are highly sought after by grocers and wholesalers in our region.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A positive attitude and motivation to learn and improve

Strong work ethic and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team

Physically fit (able to work standing, kneeling, bending, heavy lifting & be able to repeatedly do so)

Willingness to work in (and dress for) variable weather conditions (sun, rain, heat, cold & amongst bugs)

Must be able handle repetitive tasks with speed and efficiency

Mindful of details while abiding to safe food handling procedures

Frequent and heavy lifting may be required. Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.

Willing to work early mornings

Experience, knowledge or interest in food production, is considered an asset but not required

Must have reliable transportation to and from the farm.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be able to communicate (verbal and written) clearly

WORKER TASKS

Pre-season weeding and trimming.

Setting up towers

Weed management/cutting runners in towers

Maintaining field infrastructure and site maintenance (landscape fabric, weeding)

Monitoring irrigation system

Harvesting and packing

Preparing berries for freezing

Maintaining harvest records

End of season trimming and disassembly of towers for winter storage

JOB DETAILS

Season starts in Spring and into the fall. Dates to be determined. June -July is main harvest season but we have plants that produce all summer. Picking daily or alternate days may be required.

Workdays are Monday-Saturday, approximately 25-35 hours per week, yield and weather dependent. A start time of 5:00am is required to fulfill daily shipments but shift durations will vary.

Starting wage is $17.40/hour + vacation pay
