Reporting to the Vice President, Strategy and Investor Relations, the Strategy Associate will shape Enerflex's long-term business strategy and drive profitable growth by supporting strategy design and implementation. This is a "hands-on" role where the Associate will determine, test, communicate, and implement strategy in a broad range of functional areas including competitive positioning, product portfolio optimization, salesforce alignment, and operational capabilities. The position is based out of Enerflex's Calgary headquarters and offers exposure to the Company's Executive Management Team (CEO, CFO, Chief Energy Transition Officer, and Business Unit leaders) as well as collaboration with sales, engineering, and production managers.

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

Develop Strategic Insights

  • Support the formulation of strategies at the enterprise and business unit levels
  • Validate strategies through scoping and structuring projects, generating and testing hypotheses, conducting internal and external research, and developing actionable recommendations
  • Assist in special Executive leadership initiatives refining the Company's strategic vision
Assess Opportunities and Threats
  • Analyze macroeconomics and industry trends, technology developments, and competitive landscapes
  • Identify risks to our current business and opportunities to accelerate growth or enter new markets
  • Determine the Company's competitive position given current, and potential new, core competencies
Assist in Strategy Implementation
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align business resources, processes, and operating rhythms with strategic priorities
  • Support merger & acquisition activity through strategy assessments during transaction target selection, due diligence, and post-merger integration
  • Development executive-level strategy communications, including Board of Directors materials
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will be a results-oriented, curious, resourceful problem solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Undergraduate degree in an analytical field such as engineering, finance, business, or science; advanced degree is advantageous
  • Strong functional knowledge of strategy and the energy sector
  • Substantive experience and interest in analytical roles
  • Experience working on complex projects-ideally involving multidisciplinary, global teams
  • Exposure to competitive analysis, market sizing, and operational strategy
  • Understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, sales, marketing, and/or risk analysis desirable
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and consistency in report presentation
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects
  • Ability to collaborate but also independently execute defined workstreams
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
  • Ability to travel to regional Enerflex locations may be required
