Strategy & Operations Lead, Standards (Contract Role: March 2026-March 2027)
About the opportunity
The Standards Group serves the public interest by supporting the standard-setting boards in developing accounting and auditing standards and guidance for Canada. The standard-setting boards are overseen by the Reporting and Assurance Standards Oversight Council, which are critical in providing public interest oversight in standard setting.
As the Strategy and Operations Lead, you will be reporting directly to the SVP, Standards. This position will lead and coordinate strategic projects and activities in close collaboration with the Standards leadership team, staff, and the many volunteers that sit on the boards, oversight council and committees to drive their strategies. This unique position is an opportunity to work in a highly driven and complex environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders, ultimately contributing to the development and sustainability of the vision and direction of standard setting in Canada.
This hybrid role is national in scope and can be aligned to any of our CPA Canada offices, a fully remote position within Canada may also be considered.
The targeted annual salary range for this contract position is $124,601 to $142,400 and is commensurate with experience.
What you'll do
In this role, you will:
Act as the direct liaison and advisor to the SVP, Standards, with a particular focus on stakeholder relationship management, staffing matters, standard-setting governance and structure-related matters, and the overarching strategic direction of standard setting in Canada
Oversee operations through collaboration with Standards Group performing an array of coordination tasks from managing calendars, maintaining files, planning and coordinating meetings, and scheduling facilities
Working collaboratively to implement changes from the independent review of standard setting in Canada

Play an integral role in the development and negotiation of contracts in accordance with guidelines relating to privacy and compliance
Develop and deliver reports and other materials using data and other information to support the SVP, Standards, and other Standards Group leaders for presentation/sharing with stakeholders
Provide regular status updates to SVP, Standards on strategic standard-setting projects and initiatives, actively monitoring related costs and performance, service levels and other metrics required to ensure project goals and objectives progress
Manage the Standards Group budget and proactively follow up on budgetary issues and actions
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Post-Secondary degree with a focus on Business Administration, Public Administration or related field of focus is preferred
Master's Degree, or CPA designation will be considered as a strong asset
7+ years' experience in a professional environment working in a strategic capacity
Demonstrated knowledge of policy and procedure development and administration principles and practices
Ability to analyze and efficiently resolve matters of stakeholder relations internally and externally both proactively and reactively
Excellent project management, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities on time and to adapt to changing situations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly and exercise judgment in ambiguous situations
Superior oral and written communication skills and ability to adjust communication style to the audience, along with strong research, writing, editing and presentation skills
Proven ability to develop and implement continuous improvement and innovative solutions that create efficiencies and support rapidly shifting business demands
Experience with change management practices, with an understanding of project management best practices
Bilingualism in French and English would be a strong asset
