The Strategic Supplier Manager is responsible to identify, evaluate and recommend for selection new or alternate suppliers that have the right attributes to support our growing business in order to de-risk the business. This individual will use established evaluation criteria to seek out potential suppliers around the world, manage the relationship, evaluate the capabilities and recommend a go/no go decision. Once decision is made they will manage the project until the vendor is onboarded and integrated with Lonza as an approved vendor. Manufacturing is based in Kingston, ON- remote work potential.

The ideal candidate for this role will be willing/able to challenge status quo, has a passion for excellence, is driven to exceed goals and is able to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads cross functional team with Integrity, Innovation, Inclusion and Initiative
  • Manages vendor risk assessments (business/quality)
  • Effectively negotiates manufacturing and service agreements between Lonza and New Supplier with support from Legal and Sr. Management
  • Tracks and reports on related KPIs
  • Identifies resource constraints and manages to prioritize action items
  • Uses project management tools to keep initiatives on track
  • Identifies and addresses gaps in resources given workloads
  • Maintains safe and secure operations when onsite
  • Supports the Lonza Quality Management system and recommends improvements where needed
  • Trains on and follow the GMP requirements as needed
  • Identifies efficiency improvements
Key requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree required
  • 8 or more years of experience in Supply Chain role in pharmaceutical, medical device and/or biotechnology sector
  • Knowledge of/experience in Quality Assurance and/or Regulatory, a strong plus
  • Operates with integrity in work performance and interaction with others
  • Utilizes high level of negotiations skills with Vendors as well as internal stakeholders
  • Experience with financial evaluation and assessment
  • Intermediate level understanding of ERP systems
  • PMP certification, Six Sigma or Lean , a strong plus
  • Willing/able to travel up to 50%
