About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-Time Strategic Communications Specialist to join our dynamic Communications team in our Public Affairs division. The work of a Strategic Communications Specialist is integral to Canadian Blood Services\xe2\x80\x99 role as Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Lifeline.
In this role, you will support our internal communications team to effectively reach employees working across the country in different roles, divisions, and environments. You will be accountable for the planning, development and production of communications strategies, products, and resources in support of business goals, critical issues, and high priority initiatives.
You will safeguard Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Lifeline by effectively supporting employees adapt to change, engage our teams through new and exciting employee engagement opportunities, and play a key role to improve how we deliver valuable and relevant communications to internal administrative and frontline audiences.
This role requires strong content production skills (written, video and visual content) and change communication skills. This highly collaborative role will also require excellent relationship-building skills. You will work closely with broad range of organizational partners to provide communications guidance.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Advise, create, and execute on communication strategies in support of the goals and objectives of Canadian Blood Services.
  • Produce creative content (written, video and visual) in alignment with brand guidelines. Content development supports internal audiences in a variety of channels.
  • Support engagement opportunities that deepen employee commitment to Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Lifeline.
  • Support divisional partners to enhance employee experience initiatives and priorities.
  • Safeguard our brand and reputation by working with subject matter experts to ensure high quality, brand-aligned consistent and accurate content.

Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is essential, preferably in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing.
  • Five years of communications-related experience; minimum three years of other related experience.
  • Training or work experience in change communication is preferable.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
