Your Opportunity:

The Stores I, Primary Vaccine Depot Monitor, works independently. This position supports day to day maintenance, ordering and transportation of vaccine inventory in several community health centres within Central Zone, acute care facilities, long term care facilities, physician offices and First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, responsibility has expanded to include all COVID immunization sites receiving vaccine from Public Health. This work requires inventory maintenance of all vaccine doses delivered for use by Public Health and partners in Central Zone. There is a standard tracking of distribution and process review to ensure viability of the transport storage mechanisms for vaccines and end of line storage. The Vaccine Depot Monitor is responsible for placing orders with the Alberta Health Provincial Vaccine Depot (PVD). This position must have a clear understanding of vaccine storage & handling practices based on existing standards, including the storage of vaccine at low and ultra-low temperatures.

Description:

As a Stores I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks associated with the picking, packaging, shipping and receiving of orders for hospital supplies, equipment and/or food in accordance with AHS guidelines and standards. You will process incoming requisitions and distribute supplies, complete cart audits for quality assurance and communicates frequently with stakeholders to ensure appropriate and correct quantity of supplies are available. In addition, you will track and report on inventory to ensure over stocking does not occur.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Must be capable of pushing and pulling heavy wheeled carts up to and occasionally exceeding 275 Kgs. Must be capable of walking and or standing for long periods of time. Must regularly use hand and arms to reach, lift, and carry heavy items up to 25 kg. Additional Required Qualifications:

A combination of education and applicable experience in inventory control and management and shipping/receiving will be considered. Driver's License required- driving required to transport vaccine. All ACE Courses. AHS Vaccine Storage and Handling e-Learning (MLL) as required to meet requirements of Alberta Vaccine Cold Chain policy. Must have good communications and interpersonal skills. Minimum 40 wpm typing skills-test will be administered. Demonstrated computer skills, including MS Office Word and Excel, Meditech and AVI-test will be administered. Must be organized and flexible to meet the demands of onsite nursing staff and off site queries internal to AHS and to external physician partners. Requires sitting a computer or on a telephone for prolonged periods of time. Requires working in a temperature controlled environment when packing vaccine. May require periods of standing for two or more hours at a time. Occasional heavy lifting is required. I.e. packed vaccine coolers prepared for transport or receiving. Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum one years' experience in vaccine inventory. Orientation on vaccine storage and handling practices, appropriate processes for packing the refrigerator/freezer. Understand the concept of heat transfer and requirements of Alberta Vaccine Cold Chain policy. Understand how to pack an insulated container for clinic or transport. Understand the importance of cleaning and maintaining the vaccine refrigerator/freezer and monitoring equipment.
